Don't miss this chance to explore a beautiful urban refuge with an experienced naturalist by kayak.
After a brief demonstration to learn the basic strokes and techniques for paddling a recreational kayak, our guides will lead guests on a fascinating paddle through the largest freshwater tidal marsh in Pennsylvania for an up-close look at shorebirds, plants and wildlife. John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge is home to a variety of migratory birds, including heron, egrets, kingfishers and waterfowl. Eighty-five avian species birds nest here (including a pair of bald eagles) and over 300 species have been spotted around the refuge.
Along the paddling route, an experienced birder from the refuge will share insights about the habitat, bird migration, local nesting birds and more. This is a birdwatching tour like no other don't miss it!

L.L.Bean does not usually cancel events due to inclement weather. However, we reserve the right to cancel an event at any time due to severe weather, low enrollment or other concerns. If L.L.Bean cancels your event, you will receive a full refund for the cost of your reservation.
*Synthetic clothing dries quickly and is the best choice for outdoor pursuits. Please do not wear cotton clothing. When wet, cotton rapidly robs the heat from your body and takes a long time to dry. We also recommend you dress in multiple layers, allowing you more flexibility to comfortably respond to the weather conditions and your level of exertion.
Please call ahead if you plan to use your own equipment as it must pass inspection by L.L.Bean staff before use. If it's deemed unsuitable, we will provide you with the necessary equipment.
