Course Description

In a one-on-one setting, our ACA certified instructors will guide you step by step through the skills required to reliably roll a kayak. After a brief refresher on wet-exits, tucking, T- and assisted rescues, your instructor will demonstrate specific rolling techniques, starting with the foundational hipsnap. Then, with your instructor by your side, you will get plenty of practice rolling a kayak to understand what it’s like to be upside down and roll back up. Learning how to right your boat is an invaluable safety skill for all sea kayakers – please join us.

Anyone who is a competent paddler can benefit from a kayak rolling lesson. Please plan to spend most of the class wet.

All necessary paddling equipment is provided.

Our trips and tours are led by experienced guides who are passionate about the great outdoors and excited to share a new adventure with you. We look forward to seeing you soon!

L.L.Bean does not usually cancel events due to inclement weather. However, we reserve the right to cancel an event at any time due to severe weather, low enrollment or other concerns. If L.L.Bean cancels your event, you will receive a full refund for the cost of your reservation.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

*Synthetic clothing dries quickly and is the best choice for outdoor pursuits. Please do not wear cotton clothing. When wet, cotton rapidly robs the heat from your body and takes a long time to dry. We also recommend you dress in multiple layers, allowing you more flexibility to comfortably respond to the weather conditions and your level of exertion.

†Please call ahead if you plan to use your own equipment as it must pass inspection by L.L.Bean staff before use. If it's deemed unsuitable, we will provide you with the necessary equipment.
