COVID-19 - An Update for our Customers

To our valued customers,

As each of us continues to navigate through these trying times, L.L.Bean’s top priority remains the health and well-being of our employees, customers and greater communities. That is why we have made the tough decision to extend the closure of all U.S. retail locations until further notice.

We have paid all retail employees since we closed our doors on March 16th, and have continued to make critical investments to ensure employees across all areas of the business have the flexibility and support they need to care for themselves and their families during this time.

Because our stores will remain closed for the unforeseeable future, we are having to make some difficult decisions. Going forward, we will implement temporary measures such as voluntary unpaid days, extended lack of work programs as well as reduced workweeks and reduced pay for salaried employees across all levels. This will allow us to continue to offer medical coverage for our hardworking employees and help them quickly return to serve our customers when stores are back open and business resumes.

While our retail locations remain closed, we are grateful to those who have continued to order with us, and we are continuing to fulfill orders made on llbean.com or by phone at 1-800-441-5713. Rest assured: our teams working across operations, including our home agent service representatives, are continuing to follow strict CDC guidelines, including practicing safe working distances and adhering to additional cleaning protocols.

As each day passes, we are also increasingly aware of the growing needs in our communities, and we’re pleased that we’ve been able to redeploy some of our employees and production areas to support those needs. Employees in our warehouses are packing shelf-stable food in partnership with local and national hunger-relief organizations, while our manufacturing facility is producing protective masks and clothing to support medical professionals.

Lastly, we have taken comfort in the photos and sentiments you have shared about your time spent outside these past few weeks. As always, we thank you for your support and loyalty at this time. Together we will get through this.
