L.L.Bean Announces 2021 Programming for Summer Across Maine, A Statewide Celebration of Outdoor Recreation For All Mainers

The outdoor retailer to offer free and discounted activities for all ages July 2 to September 5

L.L.Bean is encouraging Mainers to get outside this summer with the announcement of Summer Across Maine 2021, an annual celebration that offers free and discounted outdoor events, activities and guided outings in communities across the state. The two-month outdoor celebration kicks off Friday, July 2 and concludes on Sunday, Sept. 5, touting a range of activities for all ages during the summer months.

Freeport’s Discovery Park will once again serve as the hub for a variety of daily events and activities as part of Summer in the Park, located in the center of L.L.Bean’s Flagship Campus. Free programming will include:

Movies in the Park, Brought to you by Mastercard – Enjoy free family-friendly movies on the big screen each Friday at 7 p.m. (for all ages), as well as thrilling outdoor documentaries each Sunday at 7:30 p.m. (recommended for ages 13 and up).

Yoga and Studio Fitness Classes – Yogis of all levels can enjoy a refreshing morning stretch at yoga at the park, weekdays at 8 a.m. and Sundays at 9 a.m., or join REVE fitness instructors for Yoga Sculpt on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. REVE will also offer Tone & Trim, a full body workout designed to develop tone, definition and endurance on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and HIIT – high intensity interval training – on Saturdays from 9 to 10 a.m.

EVO Rock Climbing Challenge – Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., adventure seekers can head to Puffin Park to see if they have what it takes to make it to the top of the EVO Rock and Fitness climbing wall.

For Mainers outside of the Freeport area, Summer Across Maine will offer dozens of free and discounted programs each week, including:

Hiking – Free guided hikes will be offered at many of Maine’s most awe-inspiring locations, including a series of trails at Saddleback Mountain, the Mill Brook Preserve and Ammonoosuc Lake. Dates and times vary by location. Those interested in self-led hikes can register for L.L.Bean’s Virtual Hiking Series – Hidden Hikes of Maine – to explore Main’e best kept secrets on their own time and unlock prizes for participating.

Mountain Biking – L.L.Bean has partnered with some of Maine’s top mountain biking trails to offer free and discounted access, including free access to the Pineland Farms, Black Mountain and Freeman Ridge trails and discounted trail access at Mt. Abram. Dates and times vary by location.

Family Fun Day at Maine State Parks – L.L.Bean is offering free admission to a different state park every Friday from July 2 through August 27. From Wolfe’s Neck Woods to Birch Point Beach, families can experience the restorative power of the outdoors while savoring moments together and enjoying the summer sunshine.
