This is a very nice-looking shirt, however, after one gentle washing it lost its shape. Also, the collar is constructed in such a way that the corner tips keeps poking me beneath my neck every time I move. I'll be returning it.

I meant to write it keeps poking me beneath my CHIN, not my neck. : )
I was all set to love this shirt, which I bought in the Navy/Cream color. It's a beautiful shirt, true to color and size (I am typically between a medium and large, and went with the large for ease of layering). It's quite a light material, and not very sturdy. The first time that I washed it (I followed the instructions on the tag), the shirt lost essentially all of its elasticity, and several threads were pulled loose, one of the threads had unraveled so that the entire bottom hem had come undone. I was abroad and unable to access a sewing machine to fix the shirt myself, so I continued to wear the shirt, but as it had lost its shape and elasticity, it became a tremendously unflattering. I'm very sad to post a negative review, as I really liked the style and normally am very happy with the quality of L.L.Bean apparel.
I have a number of these (some boatneck, but most 1/4 zip) and they are one of my 'go to' items. I like the comfort and ease of these shirts. They are a great spring or fall item. Easy to care for, wash easily, fold easily. Nice alternative to a light fleece. I wear a medium in these as I generally do in all articles shown as 'slightly fitted'. Am 5' 8" and sleeves are long enough.
This is a great product. What others call shortcomings are actually its pluses: it's not super soft but the weave is tight and it does not pill at all, The thread lines are clean and straight, Colors held up really well through a couple of gentle washes (I got the navy and white). I'm 5'4, 125, weight in my hips. The small fits really well in the shoulders, it's long enough, the sleeves are just right and I can fit a T-shirt underneath.
I can only hope that this style, material and workmanship stays around so that I can count on it year after year.
Love this shirt. The fit runs a bit more fitted and I did go up a size as I like a relaxed fit. The shoulders still fit, so it does not seem too large and I have room for a cami on colder days. I have worn this several times and each time I get compliments on the pretty sienna color. I just went back and got another color. Comfy shirt for the not quite spring weather. Washes well. I just put it in the dryer to get some of the moisture out and then hang damp. No issues with shrinkage or color bleed/fade.
I own 3 of these shirts and like them. However I wish they were a little longer in body length and I wish the material was softer. That said, I usually wear a tank underneath them or a cotton cami anyway...but still the material is a bit weird for cotton.
These are great for cooler weather and since I am not a sweatshirt fan, these usually do the trick. I am about to order the gray and white stripe to add to my collection. One of my old ones has gotten a bit dingy so I'm replacing it with this new one. PS I am 5'6" and weigh about 125 pounds and the medium is perfect.
My 1st LL Bean top. I Love it! Excellent quality. I bought the pink with navy stripes. It is so pretty. I love the zipper, the stripes are just the right widths, the high collar keeps my neck warm in a/c rooms!
I read the reviews and ordered the medium. The relaxed fit is perfect on me.
Thank you LL Bean.
