Some of the so-called sports vehicles seem to be less "kayak friendly" when compared to the older models, hence your need to buy extra accessories such as attachment devices. Another "feature" to consider when deciding which style kayak rack to purchase is the roof mounted antenna. If the antenna is too tall and/or is in the "wrong" position, it can interfere with the use of an 884 rack. Your J-rack selection is the probably the safest bet in that regard. On taller vehicles, the pricier folding version is invaluable
