    Great combo, great service
This review is in two parts. First, the rod and reel. I purchased the 8'6" 5-weight Streamlight Ultra four-piece combo, and am extremely pleased with it.... more

    Superb Customer Service As Always!
This isn't so much for the rod itself, but for the excellent service and guarantee! I sent in an older model of this rod for repairs after losing the tip... more

I experienced the same problem. I own two Streamlight Ultra 6wts that perform well, so I was surprised to see the wobble and double bounce in the 5wt model.

I bought this 6 wt. rod with high hopes, however, I was very disappointed with its performance. I used a premium weight forward line and # 14 nymphs, but the rod lacked the backbone to turn over anything more than about twenty five feet of line-if that. The rod is light in the hand, but it is also light in power. I'd not recommend it.

Just bought the 9' 8 wt rod and used it for red salmon on the Kenai River in Alasaka last week. Loved how the rod handled, but it could not stand up to 7-10 lb salmon. Snapped where the 3rd piece joins the second with a fish on. Intend to return for repair/replacement.
