That's an interesting story but I had a completely different experience with my Eureka Timberline 2 person Tent last week. I may have purchased it from a different retailer, perhaps EMS, around 1985. It has performed well but recently starting smelling like vomit even though the tent itself is in near new condition with the exception of shock cords which have become brittle. I called Eureka customer support and asked about the "lifetime warranty" on their tents. They told me lifetime for tent is approximately ten years so I am on my own. They offered to email me instructions for washing the water proof coating off the tent and reapplying new water coating. I decided to discard the tent after attempting to wash and scrub with old water proofing off the interior walls without success....it remained on the walls and continued to flake off, creating a mess, even after multiple washings with woolite in a front load commercial machine. I guess I got my money's worth out of the tent but disappointed by the refusal by Eureka to honor their lifetime warranty. The tent never ripped and the zippers were still in good working order. I suppose my experience would have been different if I had purchased from LL Bean.
