    Comfortable
Good fit and needed only a little break-in time. Expect these Merrell boots to last and stay waterproof.

    No big problem
Shoes are comfortable but I question the cushioning and memory foam that is supposed to be in them.

Actually there are waterproof shoes. There are two basic ways to obtain waterproofness.1. leather that has been treated with a waterproofing spray or oil. These treatments wear out over time but can be reapplied. 2. Waterproof membranes. Goretex and other proprietary membranes can be waterproof. These membranes work better when a DWR (Durable water repellant) finish has been applied to the footwear (or clothes). Again, this finish wears out over time but can be reapplied. The DWR helps the membrane not become soaked and work better. These membranes have breathability where option #1 does not typically allow for breathability. It seems Merrel uses this technology. I would say if yours leaked through the footwear uppers contact LLBEAN or Merrel to inquire about a replacement. http://www.merrell.com/US/en/waterproof-gear/ Good Luck.

I too want a waterproof hiking shoe for the inevitable shallow puddle or stream crossing, but almost no shoes are truly waterproof unless the big hole that that your foot enters through gets sealed. Looking at this shoe, it is obvious that hole is not sealed. Therefore, a soaking rain can and will get into this shoe. Why can't people use common sense?
