I have had my Field BT Radio Grundig Edition for about six months. I was hesitant to purchase another Eton radio after a very bad experience with an LLBean branded unit from Eton (thank you LLbean for your return policy). Thankfully, the Field radio is a terrific unit and oh! the sound - outstanding. However, I have had the same clock random resetting problem outdoorfans had. I called Eton, but the person with whom I spoke only offered me to send it back at my cost - no way! I then searched another vendor's website for comments and found what seems to be a fix that is not mentioned in the manual (shame on you, Eton). With the radio off, press and hold the down arrow key (labeled "min") until the word "manual" appears in the display; the RDS icon will disappear. The other choice is "auto" which is the factory and default setting. Auto allows the clock to be reset by the RDS system, which may work in some parts of the world, but not mine. I have been solid for a week, and all looks good which is saving me and the good LLBean return folks a lot of grief. Now I can enjoy what is really a top radio.

For decades, short-wave listeners have made their own antennae with great success. It's largely a matter of stringing some wire in a certain pattern and pointing it in a certain direction. There are plenty of instructions, and Google makes them easy to find. Once you've constructed the antenna (and convinced your spouse that you really need to stick it in your attic, or outside between two trees), you'll find a wealth of broadcasting--not as much as once was available, since some of the big national broadcasters have abandoned shortwave for the Internet, but still enough to keep you busy.
